I bought one of these and it worked perfectly right out of the box. However, Magellan released a firmware update called 2.18. After 2 unsuccessful efforts to load the update, I wrote to Magellan and also called them. The problem is that the device now ”locks up” on practically every screen. The touch screen is practically useless and I am ready to toss it away. Their support is the worst I have ever encountered on an electronic device. Their support people do not speak intelligible English and their on-line reporting ”kicks you off” almost instantly. Go to Garmin as their support is excellent.

Out of the box, this is an intuitive, easy-to-use unit. My first dive into GPS, so I can’t really compare to other models, but it was a quick learning experience. Had one problem entering an address, but it allowed me to enter the destination by Intersection, which got me within 1/10 mile.

Hey it works well for the price ($199 a while back). But I went on trip form northeast Atlanta GA to Panama City Beach FL and select shortest route. It sent me on the route down I85 like expected with one problem. If the interstate curved and an exit was on the inside of the curve it would say to take the exit and go though and get back on the enterance ramp (shortest route). I told the GPS to ignore that exit so it told me to get off one exit earlier and use the access road. This happened on about 4 exits. However when I went to Jacksonville FL and selected most highway use it kept me on the interstate. There are some subdivisions that are 5+ years old that are not on the map but others that a few years old are. This is a slight problem since my wife is a realtor. She knows her way around anyway. No software update yet that I know of. In short it’ll get you there but maybe not the way you know, is convienient, or the best way.

Outstanding! I took it on several vacations this summer and it was great not to have my wife reading a map as we drove. Made the driving much more relaxing and enjoyable. Worth every penny. I wish we had bought it sooner. Very reliable and easy to use.

Straight from the box this baby turned on and told me how to get home. The machine is so user-friendly that i did not need an instruction manual. The colors are vivd and the touch buttons are large making it easier for your fingers. A little on the pricy side if you’re tight on cash, but as far as GPS systems go, great value for your dollar!
