LG 60PY3D Full-HD Black Plasma HDTV
The LG 60PY3D features a full HD Resolution Displays that shows programs in full 1920 x 1080p resolution for a more detailed picture. It also features LG SIMPLINK which allows for convenient control of other LG SimpLink products using the existing HDMI connection. Six distinct processes contribute to picture improvement. LG’s XD Engine takes the low resolution of analog signals to near HD levels by improving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise. This total solution results in cinema-like high resolution images. Image Sticking Minimization provides protective measures to minimize damage as a result of stationary images.

I ordered the 60PY3D towards the end of April, and was told it would not arrive until May 29. Ok. The next day, I was informed that it had shipped and would arrive May 2! Whoo Hoo! It made it to my city on May 2, but did not reach my home until May 3. The delivery man wheeled it into my garage, and there it sat for several days until the weekend came. On Saturday I installed my wall mount system in preparation for bringing the TV into the house. Before getting help to lift it, I wanted to get everything else set up. When I pulled the power cord out of the box, I discovered that the cord was actually a non-US plug. In looking at the back of the TV, the model number is actually 60PY3DF. An internet search for that model number turns up Australian websites. LG did not know how an Australian model ended up in a US box, but they did say the power specs would meet US or Australian. Specs were for 110 volt to 240 volt at 50 to 60 Hz. After getting the right cord, A-OK!

1. The ordering process with TigerDirect is very easy 2. The product arrived on schedule, in perfect condition. Be aware that the delivery is only to the door, and the television is very heavy. 3. The owner’s manual is clear, but lacked the degree of detail found by some manufacturers. 4. Setup was very simple. 5. The system works as promised. 6. The onscreen menu is very nice, and allows for complete video modification to achieve an excellent picture (see the March, 2007 issue of Consumer Reports for their review of the picture) 7. The quality of the video is excellent. Perhaps the blacks are not quite as black as the Pioneer Kuro, but very good nonetheless. 8. The remote lacks backlighting, but is fairly intuitive. It would be nice if it were a learning remote. 9. Audio is very good, however, to achieve true theatre sound, use a seperate audio system. 10. Wish list: allow discrete video settings for each input and video mode 11. Overall, I am totally satisfied.

Wow… what a picture — can you say ”color?” I’m totaly impressed with this TV, but the best is yet to come, as I’m not even running a HD signal to it yet! Guess it’s time to look for a hd-dvd player for Xmas and HD tv signal…. lol. A great price too — saved me $1000.00 getting it from Tiger!
