Integrated 1.3 Megapixel Camera & Exclusive Lenovo Veriface Security! An integrated 1.3 megapixel camera combined with Lenovo’s VeriFace face recognition software. Lenovo has introduced a revolutionary new feature on many of their notebook computers called VeriFace! VeriFace is face recognition software, which is actually capable to identifying authorized users of your Lenovo Notebook Computer just by their face! Now that many Lenovo systems include integrated cameras with excellent quality (1.3 MegaPixels), facial recognition has become viable and available for day to day use in securing your computer. The included software lets you log onto your Windows account simply by sitting in front of your system, and your face is your password. What is much cooler is that it is very user friendly for multiple user accounts. For example, let’s say you have three Windows accounts - Mom, Dad, and Sis. If you have associated their faces with their respective user accounts, the system determines which person is in front of the computer when Windows boots and automatically logs them onto the right account. In practice this works very well and is extremely fast at recognition. |

This is my first laptop ever. The features are impressive. The sound is great. Nice design. The media control ”buttons” are a definite plus. It’s kinda cool to have the Novo (one touch recovery) button as well. I had to use twice while trying to manage a dual-boot with Mandriva 2008. I would by this laptop again if I had too.

I LOVE my new Lenovo! I was a bit weary of Vista but I am still unable to detect any ‘Problems’ that I keep hearing about. This laptop ROCKS! Hands down, Period. The value is unmatched and I am still snickering over only paying $699 for it. I am IT by profession and have owned laptops by Dell, HP, Toshiba etc and this is the best I have owned so far. Just buy one.. this thing is solid

This is my first laptop and I love it. I would recommend this machine to anyone. I installed a couple of my own programs and everything is working fine. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is one sweet machine. Its looks rich, very sturdy and performs fast. The size is ideal. The keyboard is not too small nor is this too big or heavy to bring with you. Vista works smoothly and actually does make it a bit more fun and easy to get around the system. Ive looked around and have seen similar quality only in the $1000+ range so its definitely worth it. The camera gets a good image, but is a tad sluggish, but I guess alright for a webcam. Also, as expected, even from the start windows did have a couple of programs crash and ”not respond” on me, but thats all minor. Great laptop!

This is an awesome laptop! The only thing I don’t like about it is the high gloss screen. It is hard to read outside or in high light situations. That is my only complaint. I previously had a Dell that would get so hot it would almost burn you. This machine doesn’t even get warm! Veriface is a great feature as well.

I am VERY pleased with this purchase. I have had no problems with this notebook. Vista can be a bit of a pain at times, but there’s really no way around that aside from ”downgrading” back to XP. The facial recognition feature is fine for logging in to Windows but I opted to disable it in my browser, because it tends to get a little overbearing. Fast system… very reliable. I love the pattern on the top that cuts down on finger prints and scratches from showing. HIGHLY SUGGEST THIS PRODUCT!!! Thank you TigerDirect!

I am quite skeptical when I pick Y510. I have a Sony Vaio CR123E for myself and Dell latitude D630 for work. But believe me Ideapad Y510 beat both of them down. What a beuatiful piece of hardware. Lenovo did an excellent job. Clean and strond design, my double priced Vaio is so shaky. Amazing sound(4.1). Video and display excellent for DVD and pictures. I cannot even pick one single cons with this laptop. So if you are looking for a budget laptop please check this laptop before making a decision. Lenovo with this kind of equipement going to threat HP and Dell pretty soon. Don’t forget Lenovo now own the big names of IBM thinkpad, laptop trademark of IBM. So lenovo Y510 rocks.

The sound on this machine is really super, and the screen is also quite nice. I am ashamed to say this, but so far I like vista! This seems to be a solid computer and makes an excellent desktop replacement, however it is a bit chunky and on the heavy side: it is not something you will want to whip out of the case and put on your lap in an airport waiting room.

Great laptop. Like everyone else, I am not impressed with Vista but I’ll get used to it. Nice thing is it came with the original disks. I do like the one button repair of the system That is pretty nice. Good battery life - 3.5 to 4 hours. the harddrive was partitioned which is great. I also set up the face recognition software. Be careful about the lighting. If it is shinning on you, your face, it may not be recognized. Mine works great. Best web cam I have ever had. Day or night, this cam really produces a great picture. This is my thrid IBM/Lenovo laptop. My first was a T21 which I gave to my 4 year old. My second was a T23, which this one is replacing. Screen is excellent and provides a great picture.

Where do I put a Zero for Vista? You folks just have to offer an XP option for this. It is a good computer, but I am tired of going on a Great Quest for the simplest of changes that I’ve known how to do for 10 years. This whole thing is like playing the game of Myst just to get my home network running. All the MSpopups getting in my way just to do the simplest thing, trying to protect me from myself. Lenovo tells me that this machine was set up for Vista and that is why they don’t offer a downgrade to XP disk, as they do for some other machines. I don’t think so, since the Y510 only requires a sound driver for XP and about 10 drivers for Vista. Lenovo will furnish the sound drivers, just not the XP, which you’ll have to get yourself.

I purchased this laptop because it was such a great value compared to the others with similar specs. The pictures cannot do it justice. This is a beautiful machine that performs even better than it looks. I’ve only ever owned Dell and HP notebooks and this Lenovo impressed me beyond my expectations.

I wanted to switch to Mac but it was too expensive. This is a great laptop for the money. I like the frameless screen (not really frameless) because it’s easy to see and clean. I like the cloth pattern on the cover, no finger prints. Not wild about face recognition but sure it will grow on me. It will make a great basic work machine and I bought it because of the Lenovo reputation.

Outstanding Lenovo offering for consumers, bringing the reliability of Thinkpads but adding some vavavoom to create a feature packed & stylish laptop. Great looks, sounds, screen and supported by magical Intel processors, make this a great buy.

I have to say that I am very impressed with this laptop so far. I was a little concerned that not getting the Core 2 Duo processor would not give me the performance that I wanted but so far the Core Duo processor has done just fine. I managed to get one of these when they were on sale for $700 plus $50 rebate so it was a heck of a deal. The quality seems to be very good, the keyboard is nice and the speakers even sound pretty good for a laptop. I have not set up the facial recognition software yet so I am not sure how good that will work but so far it has been a good laptop.
