Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Processor BX80557E6850
Intel® Core™2 Duo processor is the new brand name for our next-generation energy-efficient performance desktop and mobile processors. Formerly known by their codenames Conroe and Merom, the Intel® Core™2 processors for desktop and mobile computers are based on the Intel® Core™ microarchitecture, Intel’s new industry-leading foundation for all mobile, desktop and server platforms moving forward.
By offering a single brand name for our mainstream desktop and laptop dual-core processors, Intel’s branding strategy makes it simple for consumers and businesses to choose a powerful and energy efficient processor – and makes it easier for developers to "write once, run everywhere."
"…and not only was the Intel system running at 2.66GHz - a slower clock rate then the top Pentium 4 - it was outpacing an overclocked Athlon 64 FX-60. Wrap your brain around that idea for a bit" - Intel Reveals Conroe Architecture: Lloyd Case, Extremetech March 8,2006
Intel® Core™2 Processor Family
When launched later this year, the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor will provide enhanced performance and energy-efficiency in mobile applications while bringing for the first time the benefits of energy-efficient performance to mainstream desktop computing. It will be Intel’s highest performing desktop processor ever and the new first choice of gamers and multimedia professionals worldwide.
As with the Intel® Pentium® processor brand, use of the number "2" signals the arrival of the next generation of technology to the Intel® Core™ processor line. In order to be consistent with our current Intel Core processor naming, we are continuing to use "Duo" to creatively and effectively indicate Intel® dual-core technology.

Features
- Intel® Wide Dynamic Execution
Dynamic execution is a combination of techniques (data flow analysis, speculative execution, out of order execution, and super scalar) that Intel first implemented in the P6 microarchitecture used in the Pentium® Pro processor, Pentium® II processor and Pentium® III processors. - Intel® Intelligent Power Capability
Intel® Intelligent Power Capability is a set of capabilities designed to reduce power consumption and design requirements. This feature manages the runtime power consumption of all the processor’s execution cores. The result is excellent energy optimization enabling the Intel Core microarchitecture to deliver more energy-efficient performance for desktop PCs, mobile PCs and servers. - Intel® Advanced Smart Cache
The Intel® Advanced Smart Cache is a multi-core optimized cache that significantly reduces latency to frequently used data, thus improving performance and efficiency by increasing the probability that each execution core of a dual-core processor can access data from a higher-performance, more efficient cache subsystem. - Intel® Smart Memory Access
Intel® Smart Memory Access improves system performance by optimizing the use of the available data bandwidth from the memory subsystem and hiding the latency of memory accesses. - Intel® Advanced Digital Media Boost
The Intel® Advanced Digital Media Boost is a feature that significantly improves performance when executing Streaming SIMD Extension (SSE/SSE2/SSE3) instructions.

I purchased this for a gaming machine I started to build. It is blazing fast I don’t think I’m even going to overclock it, or at least for a few years. With the OCZ vanquisher cooler (highly recommended 25 bucks on this site) my processor never gets any hotter than 22 degrees Celcius (or about 77-79 degrees F) It I haven’t seen this thing go past 30% percent load and that was while running TF2 and firefox while watching videos on youtube. Blazing fast you won’t regret it.

This is a must have upgrade from a 945 pentium D 3.40 GHz 800 FSB 2 MB cache. [For conservatives] The speed is out of this world on [STOCK]. NOTE: Does NOT overclock well with XFX nForce 680i SLI MOBO, Im into OC’ing so it lose points in features and Quality. I’m also using this CPU with OCZ 2 GB dual channel SLI memory. Overall a DAMN good CPU for conservatives. I’m just pissed Tiger came out with the cheaper faster cooler running 45nm a few weeks AFTER I perchased this brand. DAMN I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!

Great buy. Used it on my first build. Runs a little hot but I’m getting a Zalman CPU cooler so that should do it. DO NOT USE THE ONE THAT COMES WITH IT! i do use this for gaming though and i get great FPS.
