GE E850 Digital Camera - 8.0 Megapixels
The GE E850 may be an intermediate point-and-shoot camera, yet it gives you features and megapixels that other camera companies put in their top-of-the-line models. First, there is a generous 8-megapixel rating for capturing every detail of your images. Then there is a 28mm equivalent wideangle lens. It makes taking great indoor group pictures easier because subjects don’t have to squeeze uncomfortably close together to fit into the pictures. The E850’s 5X optical zoom and the 4.5X digital zoom provide super focal flexibility. And the camera’s large 3-inch LCD screen means you won’t have to squint to see what you’re capturing. A simple, intuitive user interface makes the E850 easy to use even for novices. Its slim and stylish design is also jam packed with great features like in-camera panoramic stitching, red-eye removal, face tracking, electronic stabilization and MPEG-4 movie recording. The E850 comes with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery for non-stop picture taking. And its memory can be expanded up to 4 gigabytes with SD or SDHC memory cards. Compare the E850 with other 8-megapixel cameras and you’ll see why it’s one of the first cameras worthy of the GE name.

Features
- Megapixels
A megapixel (one million pixels) is a unit of image-sensing capacity in a digital camera. A pixel - shorthand for "picture element" - is the basic unit of programmable color on a computer display or in a computer image. In general, the more megapixels in a camera, the better the resolution when making larger prints. - Optical Zoom
Optical zoom is basically what is found in a regular 35mm camera: When the button is pushed to zoom in or out, physical lens elements move inside the camera to achieve the desired effect. Optical zoom lenses actually “move” you closer to the subject of the photograph. The higher the optical zoom rating on a camera, the farther away you can be to take a photograph and still get a clear, close-up image. - LCD Screen
Digital cameras use the LCD screen as a viewfinder by providing a live video feed of the scene to be captured. The LCDs normally measure between 1.5" and 2.5" diagonally (our LCDs measure 2.5 to 3 inches) with typical resolutions between 120,000 and 240,000 pixels. - Image Stabilization
Image Stabilization automatically overcomes shaking or blurring caused by accidental hand movement, helping you take clearer, sharper pictures. - Face Detection
The camera detects faces in a scene and then automatically focuses and optimizes exposure for them. This technology helps when taking pictures of large groups, when a person is in the distance or when the subject moves into the frame. Even if a person moves, the camera will stay focused on the face and adjust exposure. A person’s face must be looking towards the camera for face-recognition AF/AE to work effectively. It also works best when taking photos in good light. - High ISO
ISO denotes how sensitive the image sensor is to the amount of light present. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the image sensor, which means improved ability to take pictures in low-light situations. With film cameras, you have to physically change to a different roll of film if you want a different ISO speed. Digital technology allows you to simply dial to another ISO rating, letting you record images taken at different ISO speeds on the same memory card.

I ordered it after looking at alot of brands and models. I liked the 8 megapixals and the lens are nice. Its a decent camera but 5x zoom is very fuzzy. Most pictures come out good but some are horrible, usually user error though. For the price its at I didnt expect much but im in no means disappointed. I am not a professional photographer, just looking for a decent camera so this one is fitting.

H855 is a functional camera and in optimal conditions and with great attention, it can take very good pictures. It is small, light, easily portable and stylish. However, looking at the front of the camera you can quickly note two design flaws that greatly affect performance. First, the infra-red sensor is located on the bottom right corner of the camera face - the exact place many people like to hold the camera. This results in the sensor easily being blocked and an unfocused improperly balanced photo. The second probelm is the flash located in the upper left corner - easily blocked by fingers. The result is many unfocused, underexposed pictures. Beware if you have large fingers or like to shoot quickly - focus will be a serious issue as the processor in the camera is not that quick either.

I’ve been using this camera since January and no doubt about it, it takes great pictures - indoors. Outdoors is another story. Forget it trying to take a picture when it’s sunny or even just a bright day. The LCD screen is like a reflective mirror and it’s impossible to see what you are taking a picture of. Sure this is not a problem if you’re subjects are posed, but trying to take a spontanious picture is a frustrating experience.

I agree with the previous review author. I was sitting down to write my review and echo the same sentiments. The shutter delay was bad enough for me to return the camera. Every other aspect of this camera is fantastic! The video is awesome. The speaker is a bit quiet; but, it’s okay. I have small children and you can’t have a delay at all or you miss the shot!! Otherwise, good deal. Portraits would be fine with this camera.

I got this for my wife, and she loves it. This is equivalent to the Canon Power Shot line. I think this may even be a little better. The thing takes GREAT motion shots. The only complaint is the delay from when you hit the button to take a picture, but that can be worked around by using the sport feature. The camera has all the features of a camera 3-4X the price. The pictures look great, and it is very affordable. The battery has been in it for a week, and she hasnt had to charge it back up yet from daily use. I highly recommend this camera to anyone.

I bought this camera 4 months ago. I made hundreds of pics up to now and I am very satisfied. Value is good, make awesome quality pics. Recently I made few videos and looks like videos are washed of colors a little bit. Thank you TG
