The Nuvi 650 is my second unit. I had TomTomOne and used it for a few month so I can compare the two. I would compare the two based on a few points useful for users. Nuvi’s POI’s are way better than TomTomOne. For Route planning, TomTom has better features as it allow easier preview of the route. But when it comes to route selection, Nuvi is better. TomTom allows you to choose alternative route as well as to avoid certain part of the route if there is a road block. MP3 player, screen size as well as voice prompting street names would be a plus for Nuvi. Signal reception is also better on Nuvi. However, I noticed the latest version of Home software for TomTom has map correction which I think is very important especially in cities where they undergo new road, ramp and bridge constructions. None the less, by far Nuvi is superior to Tomtom but if we can get the route planning and road avoidance and map correction in Nuvi, it would be the very best unit one

Just purchased before trip to east coast came back through USA.I love this GPS no problems finding hotels, gas and never get lost. If you set a destination and you detour from the route the gps voice seems to say recalulating with a bit of attitude very funny.

this is a top notch gps system. my best friend got one several months ago and i fell in love with his. so it was a no brainer on what to buy. for me the next model up the 660 was not worth the extra cost. the 650 has all the features that you will ever need. right out of the box it was ready to go. and the ease of use is awsome. i have just used it locally and not taken a trip yet, so i am looking to try it out on a good long trip soon. i didn’t buy from tiger only because i had a cupon for 12% off the already sale price so the total can in a little lower than tiger. had it not been for that i would have bought from them. right now they have the best price and super fast shipping. thanks tiger

Excellent piece of equiptment. I don’t know how we lived without it. It’s as necessary as cell phones and computers these days. I like the wide screen, because I’m deaf in the right ear and can’t hear it when the window is open. I am also a commercial driver and most large vehicle windshields are far away from the driver, so I need to able to see it good. That is why I got the wide screen. Also, on the widescreen everything is not squished together like on the narrow screen ones. Like a widescreen TV, this navi gives you a wider field of view. You can see all the side streets and so on. You can jump off the highway in rush hour traffic and take a service road you see on the side of the screen. I’m not even going to bother to comment on accuracy and all that, because everyone knows Garmin is the bomb.
