I was an early adopter for this laptop - well actually the Linux version with the 8GB SSD drive. I LOVE this laptop, but performance really suffers when using XP. It has most to do with an unfortunate incompatibility with the SSD (Solid State Drive) that Acer chose to use and Windows XP. Shame, shame, Acer… You really should research this stuff. Well, this is my guess as to why the XP version does not ship with a SSD, but rather a 120GB mini harddrive. I always felt that one of the big positives of this kind of subcompact computer was the fact that there are NO MOVING PARTS. It makes for a more robust system. Having said all that, I really do like this laptop. I previously owned the Asus EEEpc and prefer the asthetics, screen and keyboard on the Acer Aspire One. However, the Asus EEEpc FAR OUTPERFORMED this machine in speed. If you are going to use XP (only), then I would recomend this machine with XP already installed and with a compatible HDD. CG

I like this new category of notebooks for carrying around. I looked at the Linux version and it was great, but wanted something with XP. Couldn’t believe the price of $399 for this unit. Others with XP are $100 to $200 more. Pros: Small, light, full working XP and fast for the processor. Cons: keyboard and mouse are small and take some getting use to. In conclusion I have only had it a short while but love this Aspire One.
